La comparaci\u00f3n y an\u00e1lisis cr\u00edtico de proyectos de vivienda en diferentes ciudades es una herramienta excelente para indagar y definir esa identidad. At first glance, the difference between two places can be defined by their postcard monuments, iconic buildings and open spaces. However, it is the way people live in a city, and how their houses are built and connected to the open spaces, that reveals the true identity of a city. The comparison and critical analysis of housing projects in different cities is an excellent tool to investigate and define that identity. This publication explores this method by looking at two cities that initially appear opposites: the dense and somewhat chaotic fabric of Madrid, and the well-ordered and porous conglomeration of small towns that make up the Randstad, from Rotterdam to Amsterdam. This collection of case studies, critical analyses and reflections offers extraordinary insights into how housing projects have defined the cities in the past and present, and how the built examples have or have not managed to adapt to changing conditions.
